St Agnes, Cornwall, 4 May 2008. Legend has it that Bolster fell in love with a local girl, St Agnes. He couldn't see that they were hopelessly mismatched, he was big and ugly, she was petite, virtuous, and sworn to chastity, but Bolster would not give in. St Agnes could not tolerate him any more and devised a cunning scheme. She asked him to prove his love by filling a hole in the cliff above Chapel Porth with his blood. Bolster thought that being a giant he would have more than enough of his blood to do that. However, the hole was bottomless and went straight into the sea. Bolster died murmuring St Agnes's name and to this day the cliff at Chapel Porth bears a red stain of his blood.
A wonderful tradition and a superb record of the day - well done! The giant is really effective when it appears over the horizon and the massed drums sound so powerful. Thank you for sharing, I have subscribed to your channel!
