This is one of my favorite best live jams that Jimi performs. The added benefit is that it featured some of his new crossover jamming styles he had been experimenting with the last two years of his life. I definitely place this as one of the early, what eventually was called fusion jazz songs, but as only Hendrix could create and play. At about minute 1:30 Jimi literally takes off. Then he finishes the song with a slow transition piece. He used these to create medley' transition peces into the next song as he did so well during this concert and a few others.
There are very few studio and live recordings of this and I will have to admit my favorite studio recording version is still Alan Douglas' edited version on Midnight Lightning, featuring another rhythm guitarist, bass, and drums cut in during the 1970's. Again I wish the estate would eventually release that version without the session players.
This is my own personal edit. The very beginning is missing so I did a minor insert edit at the beginning.
