@sammyslammerB I was against the 12 steps for that same reason but learned that a higher power doesn't have to mean god. It can be just belief in the fact that you can't do it alone, or that it's out of your hands to control. Some people's higher power is nature others is faith in the unknown. Not tryin to preach, I just figured I'd share cuz I said the same thing you did.

i was in a 12 step program and 1 of the steps is admitting you have a problem and need help from a higher power to overcome it now i find it a bit odd that a judge can court order someone to attend a 12 step program because if said person does not believe in religion does this not infringe upon his first amendment right nullifiying it? is'nt it unconstitutional since he is being forced to participate in a program which step is admiting to a god... im a christian but still conscience of my rights
