@FantasyInDigital First off, have you ever tried to draw something like this in this tyle? If not, then you, sir, are wasteing our time. It is extreamly hard to draw something in this manner, and I truely do admire fusobotic for making something like this. If you knew it was going to be crap, then why did you watch it? If it wasted you time, them why did you post? I understand the importance of opinion, and there is a correct time and place to say them. However, there is also a time for silence.

I think I have seen this method before. On something else. Great picture!

@Armendicus technically speaking no, alchemy is a vector based program that is extremely minimalist in terms of UI and tools (there's not even an undo button!). GIMP is bitmap based, with a complex layering system and uses brushes instead of random shapes like Alchemy. Also GIMP has different adjustment filters (blur, enhancements, color, contrast, hue, brightness, curves etc) that alchemy lacks.

I have seen this method before. Not sure I like the back of the neck so much. You did a lot of hatching I think for no reason.

I don't think I have ever seen such a strange method D:
But it was amazing!
Horrible...At least I saw the end result and I didn't waste much of time...The title for this vid, should be "Trying to Paint - A Dragon"...Not offense man but if you want to get good in this business, go to a School Art first and get your fundamentals right first. I'm saying this because if you really want to get pro on this, there is a long way to get there, and earlier you start the faster you will get there. Cheers

@FantasyInDigital Ah, you're one of those "do everything with precise line-art and paint systematically exactly what you want to" types am I right? lol I wouldn't call this professional either, and I've progressed a while since then. This vid was mostly just about having fun, after all I only spent 35 minutes on it. The program, Alchemy, is more for abstract type of things in order to inspire certain designs. And who says you need Art school? There's plenty of free resources out there. Cheers :D

@xxxxxzombiecatxxxxx the first part I used Alchemy, but the second part I used a modded layout of GIMP that has a wider brush collection and a simplified workspace, created by David Revoy and is on his Chaos and Evolution DVD. The black scheme is simply done with a GIMP theme changer, which you can find for free on the web.
