@crystalnrich Hi, yep, Tanzania. The WTO Agreement helps small producers here by creating security, predictability and equal market access in the international trading system. I have friends who do well growing flowers and strawberries for the European market. That is not to say that trade liberalisation has no negative effects. It does. But this video overstates the capacity of the WTO to control the actions of its Members. It is a carefully negotiated treaty and it cannot enforce its rulings.

@tchicherine So, do you live in a smaller developing country and see what is happening? If so, tell me what country you live in and how it helps those smaller businesses and farmers. Then I can undo all the research and reading I have done and listen to your story on how the WTO helps.
Remember, these rules are supposed to help smaller developing countries, but that's not the way it works out in the end.

So are you saying that countries that have closed there borders to the rest of the world have treated there own people better?? or that they cared more about the environment?? are you saying that people in China, or India, or Brazil were less oppressed in the 60's than they are now? Pick your type of oppression. But if you can tell me a better system to get people get out of the oppressive hand of poverty over the long run then I am all ears. but provide evidence at least.

Some of this is interesting, much of it is wrong.
1. Subsidies to address a food shortage could be justified under WTO law as necessary to protect life or health.
2. The WTO Agreement is equally binding on all Members. If US or European subsidies were WTO-inconsistent, other Member nations could bring a claim against them.
3. It is overly simplistic to say the WTO serves rich countries. A core tenet of the WTO Agreement is special and differential treatment for developing nations.

@cunucky If we measure western culture (and WTO) by how it has treated people of different ethnicity and race, its disgraceful. If we judge it by the treatment of its own people, including children, the elderly and the poor, it’s an embarrassment. And if we try to calibrate American superiority by its treatment of the environment, the United States is one of the least intelligent civilizations in the history of the planet. Its easy to think its ok when you dont feel the unjust hand of oppression

I'm American NO TO WTO!!! I don't know where the money goes but trust me it's not going here!!!

@cunucky well obviously income disparities can be fixed by progressive taxation and redistribution of wealth. Dude since reaganomics the income disparity in america has widened substantially, wages have remained stagnant for the poor, and productivity has increased sharply, meaning they are not being paid fairly, like in union times. Search for noam chomsky on reaganomics he presents a lot of solid facts in that presentation.
you're defitnitely rught on that MadMikeBee! we better work altogether to fight against it. as a matter of fact, our organization is campaigning against unfair trade rules and practices by the rich and oppressing countries. may i ask then? do you belong to any organization also? we are from civil society groups (ours is a non-government organization based in Souhteast Asia).
