A couple of projects I've been working on recently, first is a waki i mounted in aikuchi koshirae,fuchi/kashira,kojiri,koiguchi,kurikata,kaeritsuno and mekugi are all made from real horn.
Paul Chen raptor unokubi zukuri,i shortened the nakago and completely reshaped and shortened the tsuka, hanwei tends to make their tsuka way too long, shape is usually not right as well, then i lacquered the same and wrapped with black leather.
Last is a tanto,i carved a new tsuka, and wrapped with small samegawa i had lying around.

Recently i picked up my katana from Pavel Bolf, blade is simply amassing, beautiful choji midare hamon, blade is very thick (almost a whole centimeter at the machi),with a lot of niku, and very tip heavy, great deep sori,(Pavel is great at controlling sori),blade is in Moromachi style so the nakago only runs through 2/3 of the tsuka.
Blade was fully polished by Pavel, i just whitened the hamon a bit.

  • You have been a busy boy ! Very nice work. What do you use to machine the bull horn so fine ?

  • @TheHanson1000 Thanks,i shape it on the belt grinder, than i use a file and sand paper to get rid of the scratches, and finally finish with buffing wheel and polishing paste.

  • Very nice indeed... That Bolf blade is for me, right? ;)

  • LOL,Yeah sure...now you got three new swords,

that should keep you busy for a while.

  • That is the best solution for practical swords, that or samegawa, lacquer gets banged up very fast..

  • I'm kind of upset you decided to cover the saya with that string. It's a very beautiful shade of white.

  • @Revan9729 was i swing too much? i guess i was. my ground is so uneven infront of my stand that i lose my balance alot...i will seriously try to level my lawn and get my footing correct. your customization is getting top notch, my friend. i am sooo jealous.
