  • I was lucky to be at the 2nd Atlanta Intl Pop Festival. 1970. YEOW! The real Allmans ruled TWICE...BB KING had more encores than any other performer there....The best

  • Nice! That was a sweet and overlooked festival to have seen!

  • I saw Johnny Winter's audition for Bill Graham in the 60s! I was at the Fillmore in SF on a Sun. afternoon. I don't remember who the headliners were, but bands often auditioned on Sun. During a break, these guys started setting up. Nobody knew who they were! Then this albino cat appeared. When the trio was ready the bass player said "We just drove here from Texas; I hope you like us." They laid us out! Wow! Seems like Bloomfield had been talking him up. He became a really big star.

  • Nice story! As a teen,I spent many Saturday nights[and Tuesdays for new auditioning talent]at the Fillmore East,a former Yiddish theater on the lower East Village.

Caught everybody but Hendrix[of all the acts to miss!!]

  • My pleasure xkecoupe.I had the pleasure of seeing him around 2000 in a small club called the bottom line. The real deal still!

  • I've only seen Johnny three times...first was in the early 70's at Winterland, then in the 80's at the Sacramento Blues Festival, and the last time was [this is a wild guess] around 2004 at the Aqua Club in Citrus Height's [Sacramento] at that,Johnny had to play sitting down and i was right on the other side of his monitor...felt like i was watching an old friend! I was!

  • lights came on and there's Johnny struttin across the stage in three huge steps (crankin) " Leland Mississippi Blues" ...christ ! never forget it, no food, the Allman Brothers delivered a truck and wagon full of Georgia Peaches which were thrown out to us stoned starvin wretches , hence " Eat A Peach" ! everybody bangin in harmony on the water tower to Santana - somebody stop me !

  • the shrooms had me cloud walkin brother.. Johnny came on right after the Jefferson Airplane...the stage lights were off, the roadies were changin up, everyone was just groovin in the fog when "whaaaoooo yeaaaahaahh da da dada da (super loud), everybody at once fell backwards into the lap, drink or joint of the person behind em -
