I've only seen Johnny three times...first was in the early 70's at Winterland, then in the 80's at the Sacramento Blues Festival, and the last time was [this is a wild guess] around 2004 at the Aqua Club in Citrus Height's [Sacramento] at that,Johnny had to play sitting down and i was right on the other side of his monitor...felt like i was watching an old friend! I was!

I saw Johnny Winter's audition for Bill Graham in the 60s! I was at the Fillmore in SF on a Sun. afternoon. I don't remember who the headliners were, but bands often auditioned on Sun. During a break, these guys started setting up. Nobody knew who they were! Then this albino cat appeared. When the trio was ready the bass player said "We just drove here from Texas; I hope you like us." They laid us out! Wow! Seems like Bloomfield had been talking him up. He became a really big star.

Nice story! As a teen,I spent many Saturday nights[and Tuesdays for new auditioning talent]at the Fillmore East,a former Yiddish theater on the lower East Village.
Caught everybody but Hendrix[of all the acts to miss!!]
