very weird ending, and quite disapointed or maybe it just has not stood the test of time. overall the series has been very good whish the last 5 eps or so were the same standard as the first ones

The Butler goes into his house as if he were number 1 and the door open automatically like 2's house.
The running hand and hand at the end was extremely cringe-worthy, yes?
-
A side note while McGoohan was debating on how to wrap it all up(If he could) Leo McKern was in another production that demanded he be clean shaven. McKern was then brought back This is why there is a shaving scene at 11:15.
All You Need is Love played behind a sub-machine gun battle. Ha Ha.

I think number 6 was number 1.

Actually the Butler represented FreeMasonry, the one who carries the temporary social rules of good and evil, for the secular system: the black and the white. It changes loyalties as the system updates itself. And it does update itself, in this show.
Here you have the Parliament of Man, showing the fully organized socialist state, where democracy is a polite pretense. The Village is the Global Village.
No. 6, I'm sad to say, didn't defeat No.1 in this show.

he was fine till he realized the ego means anywhere is the village , I I I

i believe that this was the very first show to do a "previously on...."

My favorite version of the theme, with the opening flyover revealing the name of the hotel.

@CliffTheMeerkat Don't mention it...

Who's number one ? You are number 6...
They were giving away the ending at the start of every episode, too funny.
Did anyone else ever wonder if maybe the Butler was really Number One?
