There are 2 types of Fatty Acids, The Omega-6 Fatty Acids and the Omega-3 Fatty Acids. The average person consumes plenty of Omega-6 acids in their daily diet. However, many people are deficit in their Omega-3 intake and therefore have excess Omega-6. It's important to supplement Omega-3 fatty acid with Flax oil to balance the ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3. . Flax seed oil has a high content of alpha linolenic acid, ALA, which is a type of plant-derived omega 3 fatty acid. The body can convert the ALA to the other fatty acids the body needs, EPA & DHA. Flaxseed Oil is the best source of omega-3 fatty acids. Flaxseed oil is similar to fish oil but they do have their differences. Flax contains twice the amount of omega-3s as fish oil. Flax oil is cheaper than fish oil. Flax oil has a nutty taste whereas fish oil tastes "fishy". Flaxseed oil is organic and unprocessed whereas fish oil is not organic and highly process. Fish oil mush be purified of pollutants and then lab tested to rule out dangerous levels of pollutant residues from the ocean. Flax oil comes from a sustainable, renewable, plant source whereas fish oil is from an animal source that is dwindling and difficult to renew. Flax oil is less subject to oxidation. Oxidation causes it to become rancid because when it oxides it produces dangerous lipid peroxides. Be sure to keep your Flax Oil refrigerated. Cape Fear Naturals keeps our Flax Oil Refrigerated and sells a jar of 60 softgels, 1,000mg each for only $5.95.

you actually just explained why fish oil is better than flax oil (in terms of fatty acids, not fiber). the body has to convert flax oil in order to use it while the fish oil does not need to be converted and is ready to use.
