Well, the closest thing I can think of is that cornetist, Andy Schumm, will be one of the performers playing in Chautauqua, NY - September 16 - 19, 2010, at the Allegheny Jazz Society's annual festival at the Athenaeum Hotel...

They will be appearing at the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival in Davenport, IA, in late July, 2010. If you can make it, you won't be disappointed. They will be performing under the moniker, "Andy Schumm & His Gang."

Keep an eye out for videos from thorbye and joevenuti2, who were also there, and had much better equipment than I did, to record with. Their sound should be considerably better!

I'm a big fan of John Otto. You'll see him in videos, not only from this Bix Tribute, but in quite a few of my other videos, that I've shot over the last year and a half, and he's a very fine, lyrical player. Always a pleasure to hear!

Thanks very much for sharing this video from the recent Bix tribute in Racine. For those like me who can't afford to attend this is much appreciated. Andy Schumm's Bix inspired solo is fantastic and John Otto plays a very Tram like solo. He has a light tone on his alto sax just like Tram on his C-Melody. His phrasing is like Tram's solos. Schumm's phrase during his solo at 4:26 is very very close to Bix on the original recording.
