TheGoalSetter - That was a very sincere apology, thank you for that. It is rare on Youtube that people apologize for previous comments. Great quote too ("How am I not myself").

Although I have a point about poetry. I was being a tool. Sorry to both you and tolstoythegreat.
Of course, poetry is a great way to communicate feelings, thoughts, etc.
"How am I not myself?" When I'm being a tool...that's how.

TheGoalSetter - That is true about the origins of poetry. I write poetry on my own, not for any hopes to be published or to try to be better than anyone else. I find it to be a wonderful way to express my feelings and thoughts in creative and original ways. I also like to share my poetry with other poets and read their writings. Every now and then I do creative writing exercises with my friends who write poetry, and we each inspire one another to write emotionally powerful poems.

@tolstoythegreat Ummm, like all "fine arts", poetry was initially for the ruling class who were had the means and the permission to access education. Poetry was just another way to show off wealth, another status symbol. That is why it draws the social elites it does today. Poetry is still used as a clever way to say "I'm better than you."
But I'll agree that there is a small percentage of poetry that is awesome. Ditto for music, painting, and other "fine" arts. "Fine"...hmmm.

@TheGoalSetter you don't need a priviledged education to decode poetry. I don't disagree with you completely, I swear about 95% of the poetry I've read is dog shit, but good poetry will make your hairs stand on end.

I love this movie, but don't particularly like poetry. It all seems a bit pretentious and meant for people who have time enough to use their priviledged education to decode it.
Father Flavin doesn't have the money to help them!

Madorem - That's a random and funny line. I listened to the DVD extras and learned that Father Flavin is someone from Mark Wahlberg's past.
