Use the Excel RIGHT function to pull a specific number of characters from the right side of a text string or number in an Excel cell.

Use the Excel MID function to pull a specific number of characters from the middle of a text string or number in an Excel cell, starting a specific number of characters from the left side. For example, starting at the 5th character, pull 2 characters.
