First track from the original Miles Ascenseur Pour L'Echafaud album. Recorded at Poste Parisien, Paris, France on December 4-5, 1957. Miles Davis (trumpet); Barney Wilen (tenor saxophone); Rene Urtreger (piano); Pierre Michelot (bass); Kenny Clarke (drums).

  • The use of the echo device was, of course, for the soundtrack of the film. I've never heard Miles use that effect on any of his other "cool jazz" LPs. It really does work very well here, with his use of no vibrato.
