Joanna Newsom plays at the Urban Guild in Kyoto, Japan on February 19, 2007. This is Peach, Plum and Pear.

P.S. Sorry about the occasionally bad camera work, I was trying to watch the show while holding the camera and oftentimes my hand would tilt in the wrong direction while I gazed intently.

  • A person's "education" on music should be no reflection of the validity of their opinions.

I can totally understand why people wouldn't like Joanna's singing or music. She's very idiosyncratic.

I adore her music, and her voice is magical to me. That doesn't mean that it has to be magical to anyone else, or that my opinion is somehow better or worse than the person next to me.

Now shut up and let the girl play. :D

  • dear god she is amazing. I want to see her perform. I would love to someday shake her hand and tell her how much her music means to me.

  • Been listening to Joanna on and off since I was 8. I remember singing along to Emily in the car. :)

  • The best performance of this song! :-)

  • This is one of my favorite versions! She should release a live album...

  • @AephursLocket Her voice changes a lot. She sings a certain way in 2004 then by 2006 she sings differently after having played live so much. Right now her voice kind of changed again because she had vocal nodules removed in 2008(?).

  • GAA, I love this so much!! I watch it everyday!!

  • Her voice actually doesn't sound so bad here compared to some of her other videos. I can see why people love her, and why people are repulsed by her voice. It comes down to whether you can stand the odd frequency of her voice.

AMAZING Harp playing though. I would buy an instrumental album.

  • Shes just as amazing live... Love her to bits. :-) Thank you for posting this. :-)

  • i actually think that metalica COULD cover this.. would be interesting tho. don't know if it'll be good or bad. i find this quite similar to owen pallett's cover of this song.. maybe she took some ideas from him. just wondering.. does joanna look abit different?

  • at 3:20 it would sound amazing on electric guitars!
