Julian Krug, head diving coach at Pitt, was at a swimming meet in January of 2011 with the Pitt swimming and diving team. Krug, 64, a former collegiate All-American diver, was simply going up on 3-meter diving stand to check the fulcrums and the condition of the boards. When he got up there fully clothed with tennis shoes, wallet and phone in pockets, his divers began to whistle and egg him on. Julian-- ever the showman, decided to do a "spotter" on the board-- a standing back flip from the board to the board again. He did it and stayed up! Good thing too, because by that time the entire aquatic complex a the University of Maryland was watching. Julian garnered cheers and whistles of approval from everyone in the complex.
