I tried to hang on for as long as I could But now I can see that it just ain't no good Our love it has rotted Right down to the core Whatever we had We don't have it anymore You've got to get off a road to nowhere You've got to get off a road to nowhere I tried and I tried to make things work out right But I guess we're two people who can't help but fight Your eyes they are open And oh so are mine Where both need its freedom Don't you think it's about time I'm trying to get off this road to nowhere I'm trying to get off this road to nowhere I thank you for the good times we've had in the past But we're both old enough to know good times don't last Baby you're just no good for me And I'm no good for you Let's not waste our time talkin' We both know what to do We've got to get off this road to nowhere It's time to get off this road to nowhere You've got to get off this road to nowhere We've got to get off this road to nowhere

  • such an amazing dramaturgy... no recordings like that anymore...

  • @Byrdeyy If i hear one more person say . Oh they dont write them like that anymore then people are Just Blinkered for whats out there and only can Live in the past

  • @skawashers oh, i must disagree..:)... I can compare because I listen very much to every kind of new stuff and there's of course lots of good new music...which often is blends of brilliant works of the past, still..:)... but with Carole I meant especially the kind of arrangement and the way of recording, like you said: weird echo, drone... This is a magic 'old time' classic - one likes it or not.... Thank you anyway for uploading this... so appreciated.

  • @Byrdeyy Its only that song of Carole Kings that has ever appealed to me . I found the Tune Originally on a Double Vinyl Compilation LP. Its just a shock that its not more widely Known . I think the Echo and Drone are reasons why i enjoy it. Anything that does sound a Little off Centre i seem to enjoy

  • Carole's later hit "It's Too Late" clearly seems to have stemmed from this similarly-themed record. It pulls no punches, bleak but totally honest. I've heard this was her last cut for Dimension Records, then she split for LA.

  • @dpohunter It was only this track i like of hers. As it has that 60s Girl Group sound to it . with alot of weird Echo And also It doesnt sound to out of place if Velvet Underground did it. As the start has a similar feel to " All tomorrows parties"

Has a Bit of a drone sounding and feeling to it very V.U

  • Thank you..very nice....

  • Killer song! Much better than her material from the 70's although that made her a lot more money and a household name, lol. I just really love her early work like this single that went nowhere on the charts.

  • @DandyWarholsFan Isn't 'trash can' amazing too?

  • Love her three piece harmony (with herself I assume)

  • @beatlesandbeyond

Me too.. I first heard this on Apple 1804 US single by Trash.

  • I first heard this song as a release by WHITE TRASH on the Apple record label. Both versions are amazing
