It is not a defense of slavery, but as a factual matter SOME "slaves" did receive a wage. Regardless of whether or not they received money wages, they received food, clothing, and shelter.
They were also FOR THE MOST PART denied educations, although this is not true in an absolute sense. Consider the stories of slaveowners who eventually "freed" their own slaves. Along the way, these owners usually prepared the blacks by 'educating' them to at least some degree, and paying them.

Black slaves in America didn't get paid. They are called slaves for a reason. Paying a slave is like returning your tax return back to the government. You just don't do that.

this family of billionairs (the Quandts) are the main stock holders of BMW (~47%). their fortune is solely built on forced labour and expropriation during the nazi-regime. up to today they refuse any admission of guilt, let alone paying compensations.
i wished someone would sue them, or at least the world to stop buying BMWs.
