I just received this SweetStick one day ago... it is really, really fun to play (and easy - I've never played one before today)! I first learned about this type of instrument from lewdite's YT channel- http://www.youtube.com/lewdite -It will be easier to hold when I have a strap for it. Tuned DAD (although, I am probably not "to pitch" and it was "slipping" out a little) with frets arranged in a diatonic scale. Purchased this from Mole in the Ground Studio at http://www.moleintheground.com but there are other versions and makers - search "stick dulcimer" or "strum stick" through your internet search engine.

07/27/10 UPDATE: I've just been informed that www.moleinground.com no longer exists....

  • Hahaha cool! You have a comment from the niece of the inventor of the SweetStick - here's a comment from the Great Grandson of Luke Thomasson, the writer of the song! Good job!

  • Thank you and Awesome... I feel like I have 'arrived'.... it's a beautiful song and it's nice to see your connection to your great grand dad!

    Blessings!

  • Nice picking!

    Are you a dulcimer player?

  • No... but I've been trying to learn the fiddle and this tuning is a little bit like it, but it really is very easy - being diatonic (you can't hit a wrong note). Glad you liked it!
