I agree. What I LOVE about Batman Returns is how it feels like a dark fantasy world however the theme is very appropriate because of the characters and the time of the year. And the "fantasy" world wasn't overdone to the point it felt like a cheesy cartoon land, unlike the Joel Schumacher films, especially Batman & Robin which felt like an overwritten campy film that was targeting children.

He said no because he was told to make it more "family orientated" thats why Keaton bailed to.. He didnt fund it though, he produced it.

That's what I meant. Wrong choice of words. But now I get where you're headed. Yet, how Batman and Robin could be "family friendly" is beyond me. A Batman costume with nipples, that's appropriate!
