Max Morath in concert on 5/24/1963.
First Songs: "Then We'll All Go Home", "She Is More To Be Pitied Than Censured", "By The Light Of The Silvery Moon", and "All Alone"
Though the word has picked up other meanings since, "nickelodeon" started out to mean "nickel theater," where movies were first shown. Between reels at these early shows, illustrated song slides flashed on the screen and audiences stumbled through the original "sing-along"

Continued: "Maple Leaf Rag"
" Here, unadorned, is Scott Joplin's first ragtime classic from 1899. More than any other piece, it triggered the ragtime revolution. Ragtime is probably the most misunderstood music in history. As one critic has said, it was truly the "folk music of the American City." But in a few years it became "the old, old story of Tin Pan Ally watering, nay drenching some exeedingly valuable musical material." Honky-Tonk tricks soon crowded out the true ragtime of the storied [Black] players who originated it."
