We did this with chamber choir and a professional string quartet. Very simple. Very serene. I just love this piece. I agree about the percussion though. Not a huge fan. I also think the orchestra covers up a lot of the text and the singing....

I first sang this piece in a chamber group in the early 80's. Its even more moving snging it than listening to it. I thought it had gone out of print for a while. Glad to see it has made a big comeback. For those who don't know it - check out Corigliano's "At the Earth's Round Corners" - similar music but a simpler setting.

i luv this song! i sang this song w/ my chamber choir a year ago and we had a professional orchestra play for us! good performance, although i dont really like the added drums in the orchestra.
