There are more tutorials from Teresa's channel. There's a "Beginner's" Playlist that can be found on her Playlist tabs.
I downloading these videos (using RealPlayer) and watched them later to practice crocheting during my free-time on the weekends.
To answer your question you put the hook into the two "bars" located on the side of your Half-double-crochet as showed on 0:57 in the video and continue from there with the rest of the steps Teresa shows in the tutorial.

This si frustrating I can't seem to get it I chain up 2 then I continue with the first half double but I'm confused as to where I put the needle after that its not clearly shown on the video it just says in the two loops. What two loops? Oh Im sooooo confused and frustrated I am ready to cry =(

Teresa, my half double crochet curls and does not go in a stright line, how do I get a stright line? Am I doing it to tight or not in the right stitch?

@LindaSue207 I have found that one side of this technique may work up tighter than the other side. Practice keeping a consistent tension so the stitches are even on both sides.

@tis12nv This is a stitch that you can use to replace the chain. You will continue with the half double crochet or pattern stitch of your choice.
