The Wayne State University College of Engineering can be traced back to 1920 when Ernest Drake arrived at Detroit Junior College and began teaching the first engineering courses as part of the chemistry program. By 1934, City College became Wayne University and the engineering department was known as the College of Engineering. Arthur Carr served as the first dean until his death in 1956. WSU's College of Engineering was ranked 24th in 2006 among the nation's engineering schools with 28.3 percent of bachelor's degrees earned by women. The ranking was conducted by the American Society for Engineering Education.

@truenorthcorn hey retard.WSU doesnt participate with US news bullshit ranking system.WSU is a top tier research university, and only one of three in michigan, including MSU and UoM annarbor. besides academic world ranking places WAYNE state as top 200 worldwide.same as brandies and boston university.US news is full of shit and a lot of colleges dont participate in their biased surveys. their rankings are based on nothing.NO true evidence is behind their ranking.
