What is a prim?
The word Prim is short for "primitive object". Prims are the building blocks from which everything in Second Life is made. Prims can be edited and modified to make many things. You can wear objects (or attachments) made out of prims. Your avatar itself is not a prim. You can tell if an object is a prim, if you Right-click the object and see "Edit".
