Singing a cappella and following Lady Gaga's performance at the New York amfAR gala, Meryl Streep sings the Irish song "The Parting Glass" with incredible pitch.
O, all the money e'er I had,
I spent it in good company.
And all the harm that ever I've done,
alas it was to none but me.
And all I've done for want of wit
to mem'ry now I can't recall;
So fill to me the parting glass,
Good night and joy be with you all.

O, all the comrades e'er I had,
They're sorry for my going away.
And all the sweethearts e'er I had,
They'd wished me one more day to stay.
But since it falls unto my lot,
That I should rise and you should not,
I gently rise and softly call,
Goodnight and joy be with you all.

  • a very fitting song for Natasha..almost cried..Meryl is such a great artist! Love these two actresses!

  • She sang this for Nathasha Richardson.

  • She surely has irish in her, her family from Ireland were Mc Fadden's, great-grandparents or something...that's how she sings like this!!!

  • Ah I love her so much!

  • The Best EVER.

  • @scati1971

God she has! Her grandma had irish roots :D

  • She is beautiful! The best actress...

  • by the way she even cloes her eyes when singing another irish custom, i think she must have some irish dna.

  • Jesus shes not Irish is she?, I sang that song at a funeral a few weeks ago, sang it by the graveside as is the custom, she has that pitch perfect, it has about 17 more verses;)
