This is an example of The Picture Wire Positioning System. There are many types. This one is a Flat Clamp.
There are both clamp and non-clamp styles. The "Table Top" style consists of a slat that is mounted on the side of a table and has a slot in the center. A thradded rod through the slot with a hook,(Station), on the business end, and a wingnut to sucure it to the withe of the frame that is mounted on the side of a work table. So, it's not the clamp, but the system I have a provisional patent on.
This device positions the apex of a picture wire at the same distance to the top, at top dead center, on every frame. Like a three ring notebook, the middle hole is in the same position on every one and can be hung side by side, and every one will hang straight. Because they are the same, you can switch them around and they still hang straight. If the apex of the picture wire is the same on every picture frame, big or small, you can switch them around too, and they still hang straight. Now you can first put your hooks in your wall level, and no matter what picture you hang on them, your pictures hang straight.
If a manufacturer of ready made frames where to use this system on all the frames they produced, every frame would hang straight on paralle hooks. I call it "Hassle Free Picture Hanging".
It would be nice to buy a picture, bring it home and hang it next to any picture in the house, and have it hang straight without putting 6 or 8 holes in the wall. The rights to use this system is for sale.

  • So, it's basically a jig so you have consistency between every frame. Pretty smart idea.
