Late-Night Domestic Dispute

It was 11:45 p.m. on a Sunday. Jacob, Jojo, and I were winding down, watching Book TV on C-SPAN and preparing for bed. All of a sudden, we heard, "Get the eff out of my car, you bee!" Of course, we are nosy in the best of times, so we rushed to the window with the camera to see what was up.

These two upstanding gentlemen, who appeared to have inbibed some spirits sometime in the waning hours of this Lord's Day, were having a domestic dispute just outside our window on the street. About what, we weren't able to discern; the only words we could make out were the infrequent swears uttered by the dark-headed one.

Mom called during the dispute, so I talked to her some during the video. Also, Jacob commented on them. After that, I decided to start using my flash, to encourage them to scurry along.

Once they realized they were being watched, rather than being shamed into driving off (or more responsibly calling a cab), they moved to the sidewalk under our window and started throwing things at the window and swearing at us. Whereupon, of course, we called the police, because we are grown people.

I love that the people fighting/swearing/throwing things in the street at midnight on a Monday morning acted as though the nosy neighborhood watch types among us had the problem.

Before people say I am mean, btw, I might mention that of COURSE, we all fight and have times when we behave in less than exemplary ways. However, most of us, I would venture to hope, do *not* do such things in public, at night. The world is not our stage, and Lakeview is not "The Real World on MTV."
