Depressive Black Metal from Portugal. This band is one of the best of the DSBM scene, truly remarkable cut from the first full-length "Pro Nihilo Esse" ('We Are Nothing' in English). The entire album has that appropriate staticy, raw atmosphere, but it's nuanced and refined perfectly IMO. The entire album reflects a deep, undying hopelessness, one felt through the stages of pending death or the loss of the will to live. It really is a harrowing, soul-consuming trek through some of the darkest realms of the human mind. Out of all the tracks (which share a similarity in atmosphere but all have their own direction), this track I find to have such an indefinably extreme and original take that quantifying or putting this track into words may detract from it's true essence..

This track is the second song off of a powerfully depressive first full-length by this one man group headed by Vilkacis from Malleus of the same country. Their first release was a part of a four way split with Thy Black Blood, Penitencia, and Irae called "Black Throne of Disease", and subsequently released a demo in 2006 called "The Abscence of Light". This is a highly recommended release and may be a hard listen for some in a two-fold manner: The mental anguish it encapsulates is very powerful, and the distortion of the guitars is not easy on the eardrums.

*Thanks to NihiliztikVoid for putting me on to this band.

  • super super super

  • awesome!

  • Best song I have heard this entire week...

Nothing compared to the riff in 2:20.

Changes mood completely. Vilkacis has managed to take his music to the border of expression, the point of no return, a trancelike feeling, a stunning emotion of anguish and hatred against life itself that encovers his melodies....

I know you will read this Vilkacis, and I want to say that you have done a good work in what corresponds you. ...And us now...
