@ndrthrdr1 What I meant is that you can take as much or as little from the program as you want.

@poopooman38111 If you attend the meetings, you ARE forced to do things. For example, you are forced to hear the things they read at the beginning of every meeting.
You are forced to hear that "We are convinced to a man that we were in the grip of a progressive illness", and to hear people talking about a god at every single meeting.
You are forced to hear the steps read at every meeting.
You are forced to choose between saying "This is a religious cult." and keeping quiet about this fact.

But for Bill W. and Dr. Bob I would have been dead years ago. No one is forced to accept anything in the program. You take what you need or don't use any of it. But if you are a real alcoholic, it can save your life; if you want it. It is a program for those who want it, not for those that need it.

Im sick of people with the bid word innorance that is why people perish, But if it help for others let it be. these guys dont even know what they r talking about bc the dont even know the word what it means "addicted' . you should fear God...
@MagnificientSternin 12 step groups don't work at all and have been shown to have a detrimental effect, not just no effect at all. 12 step groups are dangerous cults. I personally knew someone who died because of the pressure they got from a 12 step group to stop taking medication. This is not an isolated incident, these types of things are common in 12 step groups.

@12StepTruth Maybe feeling (and admitting to!) "powerlessness" just keeps people trapped in a destructive cycle. No wait, that's not rational or critical thinking, it's just being a "dry drunk", or suffering from "terminal uniqueness", right? WRONG!! (Sorry, it's not you personally, it's every single other stepper I've ever met....)
