Hargrove, the 527th overall selection in the 1972 draft, rose from obscurity to become the American League rookie of the year in 1974, when he batted .323 with 12 homers and 82 RBI.

….and then he’s done his job and you’d be in the shower before your short-hop back to pawtucket. maybe that’s why he was a near .300 career hitter. there were probably a lot of fringe pitchers in the majors with that same marginal concentration; thinking the same thing instead of balls and strikes.
