His ritual before stepping into the batter's box included: adjusting the batting glove, hitching up the pants, knocking dirt off the cleats, adjusting the cap, back to the batting glove . . .
Hargrove, the 527th overall selection in the 1972 draft, rose from obscurity to become the American League rookie of the year in 1974, when he batted .323 with 12 homers and 82 RBI.

@haro82 Actually, Bud Selig in the 90's made a couple rules to make the game SHORTER. And it worked. One of his only good choices in my opinion.

@MrBennetzen Yes and umpire Nester Chaylak WAS hit in the head by a chair and a rock and he found a knife right by his feet. It was after this that he decided to forfeit the game to Texas.

For those of you who never got to see Mike Hargrove in action, this is truly what it was like. You could take a 3 hour nap in one Hargrove at bat and he would still be up when you woke up! LOL!

He got fired for that bullshit series against Boston where they beat us like 40 to nothing. I can still remember them chanting "Jared" . Why Hargrove got blamed for that series I will never understand.
