A video of the Big System in action at low power levels, at the Bass Pig's Lair. View of BassMaxx new ZR18 subwoofers on the end stacks, driven by QSC 6,000-watt power amplifiers, plus Electro-Voice EVX180B mid-bass drivers near the center.
A separate set of microphones was used to capture the audio, because the camcorder cannot handle the SPL or the frequency range.
The song is a Korean title from the TV series "Save Your Last Dance For Me" chosen because the bass player is playing an extended range bass and it gets down nice and low.

  • gday basspig. love your videos man, been followin them for a while! do you reckon you could send me this song in an email or other means? would be heaps appreciated mate!

  • @GTModified This CD is available from YESASIA under the title Save Your Last Dance For Me OST (SBS TV Series). That's where I bought my copy.

  • 1st, Dude, i'd love to see that thing in person, second, i have a pretty good system(in my opinion) that i would like you to check out. also, are these QSC Powerlight amps good or no, cause that may replace some of mine. My current amp is a Carver TFM-55x.

  • @bait28 I do have visitors stop in from time to time from all over the world, so definately welcome if in the NYC/Boston area.

The QSCs are excellent, however, much more complex to repair than conventional amplifiers. There are great deals on them from time to time on eBay.

The Carver TFM-55 is a real fine amp. If you use an active crossover, it can be used for the mid/high freqs. I would not use the QSC for mid/high. Only for bass, as I don't think it would be good sonically due to topology.

  • hiya basspig, haha woulda loved to hear the bass from those in person. Those are proamps right? Did you build all those?

Is the bass real tight on those? Sry youtube sound sucks always.

Would want to see teh list of equip you got there XD.

Are you playing from computer(flac) ie AES? or CD/dac

  • @MKBEntertainment I've had a number of visitors over the past few years, many self-proclaimed 'bass pigs', and a surprising number of them became uncomfortable with the volume levels I was demo'ing at during the 'warm up' phase. Rock musicians, other war veterans, etc., didn't much enjoy the high SPLs.

Yes, those amps driving the woofers are QSC Powerlight 6000 watt amplifiers. Bass is very tight and transient response amazing. WAV audio from MOTU 896 as source.

  • @hampe902 Thanks. That's very helpful information. I found a whole listing of lyrics for the album just Googling that title. The lyrics are in romanized Korean (phonetic), so still a mystery though.

  • I test headphones with this video. A $120 pair of Bose phones cant handle the lowest notes but a $25 pair from Sony can. Go figure.

  • @bait28 well that would for sure bump :D i love dubstep and that kind of music that slams crazy hard. I also am one of few that does not mind high DB's :)

I say if you dont feel it in your whole buddy it aint loud enough :) I like when it hits low and hard :)

  • @37474748 OH GOD, NOT DUB STEP, THAT ASKING FOR TROUBLE!

  • @basspig i would for sure love to come to visit... make more videos... :) would like to see some dubstep on those :D
