Republicans: Government Rationing of Health Care Is Not Reform

During debate on the Senate floor, Republican senators point out that the Democrats health care legislation would ration patients access to health care and put government in control of medical decisions that should be made by patients and their doctors.

rationing occurs when demand > supply. If you have more people who need health care than you have the ability to care for... rationing happens. We ALREADY have this... the rationing is based off of income (hence your ability to buy health insurance, and to a greater extent... the QUALITY of health care plan you can afford). So please stop with the rationing nonsense. If you have 2 cars for sale... and 10 people buying cars... guess what happens?

I have friends who work for medical and some who use it while I have private insurance, so let me inform you that most doctors would rather have a patient who is on government assistance...why do you ask? Because they aren't restricted from helping their patients as with PI company (who by the way spends WAY more then govern assist programs) nor are they denied as often AND it's like pulling frickin teeth to get their money after a claim....do your homework before spouting nonsense.

I guess what you're babbling about is a single payer system. If partisan politics makes it so hard to just have a public option insurance plan available for those without insurance, why do you suggest that Obama could sneak in such a fundamental and enormous change as a single payer system? Once again you just repeat GOP lies & propaganda without using any common sense.

Any standards or regulations the government enacts would apply equally to both private plans & the public insurance plan.

RE: illegal aliens. Already addressed how this bill is not a gov'.t subsidy for them.

However, lets play the devils advocate & say they did get premium subsidies. A subsidy means they pay what they can afford & get a subsidy to help with the balance.

Without that, since they can't afford the full premium they use the emergency ward for their h.c., and contribute nothing. At least with the subsidy method they pay what they can.

Only shallow thinkers don't take the time to realize that.

The loons behind this scheme actually want Americans to believe a government takeover of healthcare will lower costs, even as it improves quality and expands coverage to all. Of course, that's impossible, and Medicare should be the obvious proof of that. Medicare is going broke.

This "trigger" will force the establishment of a government-run plan after the insurance companies fail to meet impossibly high standards for expanded coverage and reduced costs. And that opens the door for the government takeover!

If you think we've got problems with our healthcare system now, just wait until you see what your government has in store for you. Obama is pushing nationalized health insurance via the so-called public option, which is the first step toward socialized medicine. The legislation will include a "trigger" to adopt the public "option.'This is a sneaky backdoor way into socialized medicine.
