Here's a quick test of the Burris FastFire MRD. Version tested was P/N 300231, mounted in a LaRue Tactical IronDot AK mount.

  • fire the the weapon. test the G's on that optic! Try firing under the sun, check out if you can still see the dot

  • No longer have the test unit, and it was a temporary mount. I have no doubt that the FF will survive shotgun recoil, as it is designed to do so. That said, the FF is not a choice I'd consider for bet-your-life-on-it performance.

  • i got the sightmark, which is very similar to this, and it sucks. the optic does not hold it's zero.

  • @sf7708 RED DOT, RED DOT! I vote no on the tasco, but your luck with it amazes me

  • @cal4397 I've got one piggy backing on my high mag scope on my .223 varminter AR. Great sight

  • @gasdorf uhhhhh do I really have to answer that? Preferred sight? Not everyone wants to look at the bead. Plus it is higher off the barrel- easier acquisition. Red dot sights are fan freakin tastic buuuddy

  • @glockcocker haha and pay 2.5 times as much. That is the point

  • The Mossberg 590 does not need anything beyond ghost rings calibrated to 100 yards with a slug. Within 25 yards, if you see it in your ring, your pumping it full of 30 caliber balls. The only thing I would do ( and have done ) for my 590A1 is get a custom machined bull barrel to simulate a choke for tighter patterns after 20 yards ( and it works ).

Go cheap, practice often. Put that fancy red dot shit on a rifle.

All aside though, thats a quality optic.

  • I used (and still do) a Tasco red dot, which is similar to the Burris Fast Fire, for 10 years on a Glock 34 as a cop. A battery change every six months was all I needed. Providing the Burris is as good a sight, I would bet my life on a red dot sistem in a life or death situation.

  • for rapid fire and multi target acquisition. have you ever tried combat shooting? checkout ipsc open shotgun competition
