@billylikenoodles Six of one, half-dozen of the other.

@TERRANCIO :)

@HowardVII I'm spotting one... it doesn't matter how much you have studied but if you were NOT born with certain features, then all your "Majors" and "Minors" you achieve through school chairs are worthless... sorry to say, Doc!

@billylikenoodles Technically they are one and the same (2nd and 9th). But it is referred to as the 9th because of it's quality within the chord for the root Dorian minor 7 chord.

this makes me want to listen to metallica.

It's Berklee College of Music not Berklee School of Music.

at 0:55 why is it a 9th and not a 2nd? :S

I graduated with BA in music, studied jazz theory, classical theory. Either you know what you're talking about or you don't, and those who do know can spot the ones who don't, so there's no need for attitude, you're either there or you're not. DMcMillan, for example, knows what he's talking about. If you don't get what quartal voicings of the Dorian mode are, this VDO's not going to mean much to you, nor will you appreciate his explanations about tension. It's review for the rest of us.
Looks like they're quartal voicings of the Dorian mode.
