@itputsthelotion1 the film Infernal Affairs was not an INTERNATIONAL treasure. It did not have a huge cult following and 'The Departed' is losely based off of 'INFERNAL AFFAIRS'. It's also based off of Whittey Bulgar

@DrZhivag0x It's hard to believe that you've never seen Akira. That's like a fanboy saying they've never seen Star Wars or the Matrix! I don't know maybe it's because I'm in my early 30s but Akira is a milestone in animation. It basically started the whole cyberpunk trend and was Americas first true taste of a then new genre called "Anime". I recommend that you stop what you're doing and watch the film. Better yet pick up the "remastered" cut which looks stunning. It also has the making of it.

With Akira, Hollywood want to take the Idea, and change it, westernize it even to be aimed mainly at "mainstream" young audiences, basically kids who know bout Anime of today like Bleach and Naruto, but have never heard of old manga/anime from the past such as Akira. So that wen these kids walk into those cinemas, they will watch and mostly think its a totally Original, Western Idea, and they will luv it for that. Then they will b like all these "new Star Trek" fans and claim it for themselves.
