  • Can I use a brocade fabric if I serge or hem the edges?

  • @kellaayyy13 - Umm...brocade might be a little heavy so tying the knots might be a little tricky, but serging would make a perfect hem. If you try it, post a pic of it on my FB, I'd love to see it.

  • Love this, Emmy! Just used the technique to make a baby sling for my daughter! Thanks!

  • @lunazoozoo - cute!

  • cool @___@ looking forward to the lunch furoshiki thingy xp btw what's the measurement of the cloth you used for the first furoshiki in the video?

  • @imjustbored24 - 72 cm x 72 cm for the small & 120 cm x 120 cm for the large bag

  • @KoisuruMarionnette No, no. Shiki in this case means spread or lay down. 敷 (shiku, or shiki) There are several words with same sound, but, we automatically identify the meaning with the other words, or, the kanji (Chinese character). As Emmy-san explained, Originally used to wrap clothes or things when you go to bathhouse(sento or onsen) then people began using the clothe wrapping for carrying things. Now in Japan its revival is seen. No plastic or paper bags. Re-usable.

  • Cool I am going to try
