@marekmaxpabianice your right.... but the stances the lateral movement the snapping kicks the jumping in and out of strikes def makes it Shotokan.

@multiplecocco O.O are you seriously that stupid? he asked what martial art GSP did and the answer is Kyokushin...it doesn't matter what styles previously melded into that martial art. So if a fighter does sanda and i answer "he does sanda" you would be like no its kung fu because that's the martial art that preceded it? That is the most logically backwards argument i have heard in ALONG time.

@SprawlnbrawlFFA - " slapping Karate kicks no those are full blown muay thai kicks with the shinbone"
You should make sure you know what you are talking about before you type. Many styles have shin kicks just like Muay Thai.

Machidas foundation is shotokan but he's obviously mixed in kick boxing ..but its very advantageous to learn both kicking styles , u can tell that many guys from taekwondo/karate have very high technical kicks ..but it all comes down to an individual..machida has lost fights to guys without karate..its just life ..

@SprawlnbrawlFFA You really need punctuation

OSU!

@SprawlnBrawlFFA it's not muay thai, it's soccer... Truth is martial arts consists of infinite movements. It just been disected into pieces and called it "styles". MA is all connected, what matters is the individuality and the execution. Osu!

@KyokushinTruth lol joe-jitsu from joseph benevidez aswell
You can clearly see at 3:42-3:43 mark the guy in green shorts is in thai clinch, Machida at 3:50 hits Tito with a knee and goes for Titos head thai style to knee him in the head, Machida yes has a a lot of straight punches and lots of Karate movement does he do muay thai ofcourse hence is MMA, are those slapping Karate kicks no those are full blown muay thai kicks with the shinbone, yes he does Karate we all know does he do pure Karate NO!!!

@SprawlnbrawlFFA so you pointed out 1 or 2 instances...hence why i said not a lot like u said. 1-2 is not a lot. Also again this is incorrect the snapping kicks WITH THE SHINS are used in Shotokan, it is a misconception that karate kicks are only with the foot, the difference is how much you turn the hips over which they don't do hence it's not muay thai. It's snapping kicks just because its with the shin does not mean its not shotokan, do not leave purposefully misleading info

I see a lot of round houses to the thighs with the shinbones and a lot of thai clinch and knees, so looks a lot more like Muay thai offensively and good footwork defensively hence shotokan

@SprawlnbrawlFFA snapping leg kick to the thigh is shotokan not muay thai, muay thai drags the leg more. Hardly any thai clinch work in this video. Straight down the line punches from long shotokan stances. Your assessment on the offense is incorrect
