  • what does life/god wants from me

    this is SUPER EGO

and he's claiming ego sucks ... hmmm, strange

  • @TheDharmaRain taking in and really hear is the key not comparing and analysing who have waken and who is not. whole creation is in meditation, mind cannot crasp it.

  • @trappedsoul7 ofcourse im not awake lol it takes years even life times. He uses Zen and hinduism, and other philosophies. and even Christainity. I know my friend Jyozen hes a Z teacher and said that Eckhart was being teched by a zen teacher but left on half a koan. This is why. In my eyes he is not awake he just had a glipse of awakening called Kensho.

  • It's electricity.

  • Buddah one time said: "Never believe in what people say or write, if it was me, if it was your daddy, your friend, never believe, only if it comes to your common sense. Only you can find your truth, other can maybe help, but only you can go through your door."

A small observation: Eckhart teaches what buddah teaches. Or vice-versa if you prefer...

  • I've read about 300 self-help books, meditated 1 1/2 hours a day, ate nothing but the latest diets, got a master's degree in psychology and a PhD in philosophy, and the best I can do is murmer, "It's all good, man!" in response to just about every important life-affirming question in the universe! AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

  • I am optimistic that teachings similar to Toller, Dyer, and Chodron will become mainstream. When spiritual teachings face religious dogma, I want to be optimistic that people will choose spiritual teachings.

  • @trappedsoul7 I don't think about myself as anything, but everything. I know i am not awake lol. But i don't want to be.

  • @TheDharmaRain if you have to think about yourself as a "soto zen buddhist", this is proof that you are not awake. it's your ego identifying with a particular concept :) and for the exact same reason it doesn't matter to eckhart tolle wether he can call himself a "zen teacher" or not: because he _is_ awake. he wouldn't even want to call himself a zen teacher - because he knows that's not what he truly is.

  • Zen is Now, being now with out the inner dialog (mind) getting in your way. Trust me on this, i am a Soto Zen Buddhist, and have been for 2 years. Rick Beal (a Zen monk, and friend of mine) said this about Eckhart "I was told later that he sat with a zen teacher for awhile but never finished his training.

So, he left but was forbidden to call himself a zen teacher."
