How an ebike's BLDC (brush-less DC) Hub Motor Works-Hall Sensor Commutation

There is generally a 5 wire connector from the hall effect sensors inside the motor. The five wire are power & ground plus the three hall sensor outputs. A hall sensor is a magnetic sensor somewhat like a reed switch but there is no mechanical motion. Each hall sensor has 3 leads or pins. Power & ground goto two of them the other is an on/off output. There are 3 phase winding wires going to the motor. When turned on and off in the proper sequence the motor will rotate. The sequence is made up of six steps. The motor controller reads the value from the hall sensor and controls the 3-phase bridge MOSFET drivers to turn on the right flux coil capacitor...sorry phase winding outputs.
