Camera Test - new Canon Vixia HV40. Shot around LA, including Hollywood and the Griffith Observatory. MOS, No sound. Aside from manual focus, everything else (shutter, aperture, etc) was on auto. 24p, 1080i HDV. These are just a few cuts from about 25 minutes of random footage.

  • Thanks, Stretch!

My setting on the camera were the native 24p mode.

Then, when capturing in Final Cut, my sequence preset was HDV - 1080p24, and capture preset was just HDV. my capture device preset was "HDV Firewire Basic NDF" (I was using a Belkin firewire 800 cable).

I exported using Quicktime conversion (under "export" on the File menu in FCP), and then clicked "options" and changed the video setting to HDV 1080p24.

I really just messed around until I got things right. :-)

  • Amazing footage!

What were your render settings, if you remember?
