With Love...[Jonas Fanfic] Episode 26

[A week passed since Caden's death took place, and today was his funeral. The girls and his family and friends were invited, which included the Jonas family, and Amber decided to invite Ali as well. People were gathered around, while some were still arriving.]

- Courtyard -



[Amber exited her car, and from a distance, she saw the Jonas family and Charlotte and Jessica come out. Amber had felt so weird in the past week. She hadn't smiled at all. She couldn't. It felt...wrong. The group noticed her, and came over to her.]

Nick: ...Stupid question. Are you okay?
Amber: *closes her eyes and shakes her head*
Kevin: Come on...we should get over there...

[They headed towards the people, but at the last moment, Jessica looked behind her, and saw Ali in her car, just sitting there.]

Jessica: Nick, hold on. I'll be right back...
Nick: *looks at her for a second, then nods*
Jessica: *lets go of his arm and walks to Ali's open window*
[Ali simply sat there with one hand on the steering wheel. She wasn't moving, she was like a statue. The only thing keeping her apart from that was the tears running down her face, messing up a bit of her mascara.]
Jessica: ...Ali?
[She didn't answer.]
Jessica: Ali, the funeral's going to start. You're invited. Come on.
Ali: *chokes up* I can't. I shouldn't.
Jessica: *confused* Why?
Ali: I feel...*starts to cry* I-I feel like I'm t-the reason he...he...*trails off and continues crying*
Jessica: *sighs* Ali, it's not your fault. It's not anyone's fault, but Via's. You helped us. If you hadn't come along, we wouldn't have known about Via's plans at all, and that would've gotten us in an even worse position. Amber could've died, too, and if that'd happen, of course we'd all be miserable, but you have no idea how Kevin and Caden would take it. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them committed suicide. You saved us, Ali. Caden died with a smile on his face, because he was satisfied knowing his little sister was safe. Come with us, Ali. You need to be here.
Ali: *stays silent for a moment, then opens the car door and gets out and walks next to Jessica*

- During the funeral -

[Each person took their turns to say their last goodbye to Caden from the open casket. Amber and Kevin went first.]

Amber: *puts her hand on his, which was ice cold* I love you, Cay...*starts to cry*
Kevin: Goodbye man...*sadly* I wish you could've stayed longer...just when we started to become friends...miss you, man...
Amber: *crying*

[Kevin looks to her, and hugs her tight, letting her cry into his black jacket. Next, Joe and Charlotte walked up.]

Charlotte: *crying* I'll miss you, Cay...you have a piece of my heart, and always will.
Joe: *whispering* We all miss you...but we wish you the best, and hope you're watching over all of us now...goodbye, for now, at least...

[Joe takes hold of Charlotte's hand, and lets Nick and Jessica take their turn.]

Jessica: Cay...you always smiled, even through such unnecessary moments...*small, quiet laugh*...makes me wonder if you're smiling now. I'll miss that face...I'll always miss you...*small tears run down her cheeks*
Nick: You were seriously the goof ball, man. It's times like this that we need you. Just knowing you for a short time, I'm almost expecting you to pop up somewhere and surprise us all. It's unreal that you're gone. Goodbye...

[He walked away with Jessica close to him as everyone else took their turns to say goodbye. After everyone had, they gathered around his burial site, and prayed along with the minister as they laid his coffin down into the ground. When the ceremony ended, everyone said goodbyes to the guests.]

Amber: *walks up to the group* Hey guys.
Kevin: Hey. How're you holding up?
Amber: Fine...*sigh*
[Mr. and Mrs. Jonas walk up.]
Denise: I wish you the best, honey...*hugs Amber*
Amber: *gives a ghost of a smile* Thank you.
Jessica: *looks around* I just realized, where's Frankie?
Charlotte: Oh yeah, he's not here, is he?
Joe: He's at home with our babysitter, Nikki. You probably meet her soon. *small smile*
Denise: We should be getting home. Would you girls like to come over?
Amber: *sigh* Yeah, I guess I need it.
Jessica: *small laugh* Yeah, I think we all do.
Charlotte: *small smile*
Denise: Alright then, let's go!
Jessica: *see's Ali* Um, can we invite her, too?
Denise: Ah? *looks towards Ali* I'm okay with it, you might want to ask her, though.
Jessica: Okay. *walks to Ali* Ali!
Ali: Huh?
Jessica: Mrs. Jonas invited Amber, my sister and I to her house and I was wondering if you wanted to come?
Ali: *blinks* You're inviting me?
Jessica: Yeah, of course. *small smile*
Ali: *smiles back* Okay, I'll be there. Just, I'm going to go change...
Jessica: Oh. *small laugh* Yeah, I guess I should, too. Okay then! See you! *walks off*
Ali: *smiles* Yeah...see you...
