God Doesn't Save Stupid People There Will Be Blood

I claim Fair Use exemption. In this clip of There Will Be Blood, Eli Sunday gets angry at at his father Abel for agreeing to a business deal with Daniel Plainview, after Eli gets stiffed for the other half of the lease deal in cash payment. I have found that in real life one must use his brain to survive this world. God is all forgiving, but mother nature has some very sharp teeth.

I find Eli to be pragmatic and practical in the ways of the world with his statement, "God doesn't save stupid people." It seems to be quite a break from "the lilies of the field" evocations others have used. What sort of faith does Eli have?

@117ty 1. This movie is fiction. 2. Eli isn't a christian.  He is a false prophet, he calls Abel "stupid", he makes lies about salvation, he is violent, and he threatens - ALL attributes of evil and nothing like Christ or Christianity. That you would equate anything he does to Christ or His Staints is quite curious.

It was scenes like this that made me feel a lot less sympathetic to Eli in the end. Not necessarily sympathetic to Daniel, just less sympathetic to Eli.
