wouldn't it be easyer to just put in a few jetties to catch the sand ,.....????

All that messing about with sand can have vanished in one stormy night. I see they have submerged the groynes so they have even less control over what the sea can do. All at rate payers expense I suppose. Whenever man tries to change the bottom of Poole Harbour or the sea there is an unexpected repercussion elsewhere.

Awesome choice of music! It was an accident that I ended up in Bournemouth 1.5 years ago. That one year the most fantastic year of my life and I cannot think anywhere else where I could be as happy as that. I had to move to London for a job not long ago and there is nothing else I wish more than to be able to move back there again. Dorset is the happiest place in England....

The wave action of the sea gradually strips the sand from the beaches hence the periodic replenishments and groynes. Left entirely to nature, there would be no sand on the beach. The council spends this money to keep the sand there to keep the tourists coming.
