The solar acquisition system designed for our senior design project. Uses a 12W solar panel and a 30V 10A charge controller. 12V 7Ah SLA battery with a 320W 115V continuous DC to AC power inverter powering an AC load, the laptop in this case (roughly 65W).
Its a proof of concept and its only part of the project as a whole: A solar UV water purifier. As for the conversion. Its only DC to AC because the laptop runs on AC power and so will the UV purifier. This way we don't have to dismantle everything.

Two things. This is your SENIOR project as an EE?!? In college? I remember doing this stuff in high school. Also why are you converting from DC to AC then back into DC? That's not very efficient, or is this just an initial design?
