RFTA: From Bluebirds to Bus Rapid Transit

The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) serves the communities from Aspen to Rifle, Colorado. This is a short history of transit in our area. Interviews include RFTA's "groovy" beginnings as a mostly hippie-run bus system, to becoming the second largest transit agency in the state of Colorado. It discusses the many innovations of our transit agency such as high altitude biofuels, bikes on buses, the Bike Express bus to our current development of the first rural bus rapid transit (BRT) system - VelociRFTA.
