@DaniloCamargo Exactly. People need to look at a damn map to see just how big Brazil is. It's like how many Europeans don't realize that the U.S. is as big as Europe, it's just that we are all one nation, with much more cooperation between states. So the culture on one side of the country can be completely different than the culture on the other side(just like Europe), and everything in between. Same with Brazil: there's a wide spectrum of different types of people and cultures.

@dietrite123 You are correct. The thing about Brazil is that we´re VERY mixed. Some parts of the country is educated and sort of ''european'' (like Curitiba) and other parts are just like you mentioned. Rio de Janeiro, for instance. I´ve been there a couple of times but never with enough time to really get to know it. TO ME, its a fine place. Whoever lives there will tell you otherwise, though. Guess you cant never stereotype a place based on that one impression.

@DaniloCamargo Well most people in the Western world seem to get their ideas about the rest of the world from movies and television. Not only are movies/TV shows horribly unrealistic and exaggerated, but they're moments frozen in time, with no relevance to the present.

So basically all of Brazil is one giant favela full of prostitution and crime, and America is either one giant 1970s Manhattan shit hole, or one giant wild west shootout from the 1880s.
