Edible School Garden Planting Day at Phillis Wheatley Elementary School

To promote healthy eating through education in South Florida, Chef Michael Schwartz and Phillis Wheatley Elementary have signed up to be partners in First Lady Michelle Obama's national Chefs Move to Schools initiative, teaching young people about nutrition and making balanced and healthy choices with the edible school garden as a tool.

Michael identified the school through his relationship with Roots in the City, the Overtown non-profit with whom the chef recently launched a farmers market to increase access to affordable, healthy, and locally-grown fruits and vegetables.
