This song is about a girl who's boyfriend has left her. She wants to move on but on the other hand she is still in love with him. She doesn't want to but she has to train herself to "hate" him and make him and "enemy". In order to prevent herself from waiting and hoping that he will come back she has to force herself to put up a wall to protect herself from having unrealistic expectations and to keep others from thinking she is stupid and foolish and unable to move on. When someone breaks up with us they leave an emotional scar and sometimes the only way to deal with it is to hate them back. But in reality we love them and don't want to do such a thing but we have to protect our feelings somehow. The girl in the song doesn't want to hate him but she also knows that setting her hopes high again will lead to disappointment again. She is divided. She is remembering the intimate moments but also that he left an emotional scar when he left. She has calmed herself since the breakup and doesn't want anything to cause her to start hoping again.
