After taking units in stylistics and discourse analysis, I can now appreciate and understand what Michiko Kakutani stands for.

Michiko Kakutani is awesome. People don't like her because she's the kid who points out that the emperor has no clothes. That is a wonderful attribute for a critic to have in an era of overblown literary reputations -- an era that we may be thankfully now leaving.
