This was a 1999 song performance at the Chingis Khaan Ceremony in New Brunswick, NJ. The ceremony is an annual event that has traditionally been performed by the Darhad Mongols in Ovor Mongol for generations, but the practice has spread along with the Mongol diaspora. It has been run by the Mongol American Cultural Association (MACA) in the USA since 1988. The performers were visiting from Mongolia (Mongol Uls). I particularly like the sound of the Morin Huur in this performance. I'm not sure what the name of this song is, does anyone else recognize it?

  • I think the song is "Altain Khangain Magtaal" -Ode to Altai and Khangai Mountains"

  • amazing!

  • i've heard this song so many times...

i went go to this even every year^^

  • this is one of the most well known of the mongolian songs, very beautiful

  • It's a jaw harp, or jews harp; there are many varieties on the instrument. You can make cool sounds with them: /watch?v=8s4Wrzw7aho

  • What instrument is that where they put that thingy at the mouth and pull some sort of string and it makes that very bouncy noise.

  • Aanha. Altain Magtaal. "Uneheeriin sonin saikhan bayan buural Altai Khangai hoyor mini bilee."
